Brazil's BNDES to prepare study on Internet of Things

Brazil's National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) will prepare a study that will serve as the basis for the national Internet of Things plan being defined by the federal government. According to the Secretary of Brazil's Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications, Maximiliano Martinhao, the idea is to prepare a specific plan for Brazil, identifying the strategic sectors, the size of the market and where the country is the strongest, in order to make Brazil an important player in the IoT sector.

The study conducted by BNDES will involve public and private agents, experts, opinion makers, organizations, associations, universities, entities and private sector companies. The National IoT Plan should be completed in nine months counting from November and will have three phases, ranging from the diagnosis of the potential impact of IoT in Brazil and the skills that the country already has until the creation of the 2017- 2022 Action Plan.
