Buildings IoT Releases IoT Jetstream to Expand Application Developers' Access to Building Data

IOT Jetstream
Buildings IoT has launched IoT Jetstream as application developers begin to regard smart buildings as a promising frontier for innovation. This dependable and secure building integration platform allows you to access data from all across the built environment using a single GraphQL API. Building data is delivered to software engineers' fingertips with IOT Jetstream, eliminating the need for them to comprehend complicated underlying systems and proprietary communication protocols in order to design digital building solutions.

"We developed IOT Jetstream to make building data available at scale. The platform empowers software developers interested in creating digital solutions to contemporary real estate problems – issues, for example, related to ESG reporting, sub-optimal operation of equipment, or poor indoor air quality – by providing access to normalized data specific to the building domain," explained Patrick Gilhooly, Product Delivery Engineer at Buildings IoT.

Users can access data from multiple devices, databases, and reporting systems using IOT Jetstream's unified data model, which is made possible by the Ontology Alignment Project (OAP). In software architecture, the API, also known as middleware, provides the translation layer that unifies data across devices, systems, protocols, data models, and endpoints.

Data is normalized and tied to the spatial context of a specific building in IoT Jetstream, giving the data meaning beyond the device that originated it. These capabilities allow software developers to construct solutions that have an impact on energy consumption, occupant comfort, and equipment operation in the built environment without having to become specialists in each of the systems that provide the data.

"For building owners and operators, the IOT Jetstream smart building platform provides the flexibility and agility to adopt new technology and applications quickly, easily, cost-effectively, and in response to changing market and environmental conditions. Without an independent data layer, it's difficult and expensive to deliver cloud-based apps for a tenant experience or carbon reporting. Those apps require data from many different sources to provide value and consistency. The most effective way to enable those smart building features is through a platform that supports integrated data and interoperability from multiple mechanisms,"

Gina Elliott, Chief Services Officer at Buildings IoT

Buildings IoT secures its platform solutions by adopting industry best practices to ensure that all data in each tier of IoT Jetstream is protected to the highest extent possible, from the cloud to the edge. In addition, buildings IoT and IoT Jetstream help protect building data and prevent risks by leveraging user access control and authentication, encryptions, and other industry-leading security methods.

IOT Jetstream offers three different packages that give different services depending on the size of the property and the features that are desired. Buildings IoT works with building owners to find the greatest fit for their needs, offering Starter, Professional, and Enterprise solutions.
