Schneider Electric’s IIoT EcoStruxure reduces energy use, accesses new business models

February 2, 2017

Schneider Electric believes the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) will be a major factor in reducing energy usage while allowing enterprises to remain competitive in a complex digitally transformed ecosystem. It has introduced an architectural approach it calls EcoStruxure to create an intelligent energy management system within facilities by enabling compatibility between the management of power, datacenters, process and machines, building control and security. Schneider forecasts a 1.5x increase in energy demands worldwide over the next 40 years, based on 2009 levels, whiles global CO2 emissions will be halved. It suggests that industry essentially needs to be 3x as efficient as it is now in order to meet this usage profile.
