WGC 2020 to emphasize the importance of Wi-Fi technology to IoT deployments

The WGC Barcelona will also cover topics such as Wi-Fi customer experience, synergies with the IoT ecosystem, the impact of Wi-Fi cybersecurity, identity management, location services, and the role of Wi-Fi of the connected vehicle.
The North American edition of the WGC will be held in Chicago in June, while Barcelona will host its European counterpart in October.

The European Wireless Global Congress 2020 is set to take place from 27th to 29th October at the Gran Via venue. The congress is being held by a joint venture by Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) and Fira de Barcelona within the framework of the IOT Solutions World Congress. The global event specializing in WiFi will have more than 1,000 key-decision making professionals linked to operators, service providers, technology and software companies, and user companies and entities around the world present.

Wireless Broadband Alliance is the organizer of the Wireless Global Congress, which every year holds one event in the USA and another one in Europe. WBA is a body-focused on promoting and enabling co-operation between service providers, enterprises, cities and technology providers to improve and advance the customer experience of Wi-Fi.

The North American edition of the WGC will be held in Chicago in June, while the Spanish city will host its European counterpart in October and have the option of extending its partnership for a further four years.

Frankfurt and London were the last European cities to host this international congress. In the previous edition, the IOTSWC brought together 350 exhibiting companies, more than 300 speakers and 16,000 professionals from over 120 countries.

What to expect?

The Barcelona Wireless Global Congress will take place co-located with the IOT Solutions World Congress, an event organized by Fira de Barcelona and the Industrial Internet Consortium. IOTSWC focuses on showing the real impact of IoT on the digitization of industries, together with other disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, blockchain, and digital twins.

This will be a big year for the world of Wi-Fi, and this partnership with the IoT Solutions World Congress will be a good platform to highlight the developments in Wi-Fi that can make a major contribution to the digital transformation of economies and businesses.

The WGC Barcelona 2020 will cover topics such as the opportunities opening up with the next generation of Wi-Fi services (Wi-Fi 6 and 6 GHz), intelligence gathering and data analysis, the Wi-Fi customer experience, synergies with the IoT ecosystem, the impact of Wi-Fi cybersecurity, identity management, location services and the role of Wi-Fi of the connected vehicle. Momentus to Deliver Nine Satellites to Orbit for Apogeo Space Internet of Things Constellation

Legacy copper-wire phone lines, also known as plain old telephone service or POTS, are reaching end of life as many carriers hike monthly rates and allow quality of service to slip. This creates significant challenges for safety equipment and business-critical systems that require a POTS line – ranging from fire alarm panels to elevator phones, fax machines, public safety phones, building access systems and more – that often can’t be migrated to voice over internet, or VoIP, service. Ooma AirDial (https://www.ooma.com/airdial) provides turnkey replacement for POTS lines by combining the AirDial base station with virtual analog phone service from Ooma, a data and voice connection through a nationwide wireless network, and cloud-based management with Ooma Remote Device Management (RDM), an online portal for monitoring and managing AirDial units in one place, from anywhere. New management features added to AirDial include: API integration – Network managers can streamline workflows by passing AirDial status information and notifications into any monitoring tool that supports REST-based APIs. This removes the need to contact Ooma customer support, accelerating the timeline when porting multiple phone numbers. Search – Administrators can now search RDM for individual AirDial devices by individual phone numbers, equipment labels, LTE status and more.
