Docomo, Itochu Logistics to launch IoT trial for delivery-fleet management

NTT DoCoMo | April 19, 2019

NTT Docomo, NTT Docomo USA, and Itochu Logistics have announced that they would trial an IoT service that uses devices compatible with low-power, wide-area LTE-M technology to enable delivery businesses to visualize the status of outsourced trucks in their fleets. The trial is scheduled for launch in the US on 1 May. The service involves placing hand-held, battery- or solar-powered devices in trucks to collect data, such as truck locations and frequency of sudden braking, which will be sent through an LTE network to a dedicated website. The service can also provide temperature, humidity, brightness etc. data depending on delivery needs, as well as notify customers via email when the trucks approach their destinations. Itochu Logistics USA expects to save time using the service, compared to the conventional method of manually phoning drivers to confirm their locations and estimated delivery times.

Sternum Becomes NXP Marketplace's First Real-Time IoT Security and Observability Solution

Sternum | June 27, 2022

One of the top producers and biggest markets for embedded controllers in the world, NXP Semiconductors, has announced that Sternum, a pioneer in autonomous IoT security and observability, has joined the community of software partners. Through this partnership, NXP-dependent IoT device manufacturers will be able to easily incorporate Sternum's proprietary security and visibility capabilities into their products. With a CPU overhead of around three percent during the DD process, Sternum's Embedded Integrity Verification was able to neutralize the assaults that NXP researchers had tried. Sternum is seen as an important addition to NXP products because it effectively addresses the growth in remote runtime assaults on connected devices. According to P&S Intelligence, the embedded security industry will reach more than $10 billion by the end of the current decade. The graph shows an increase in demand for safeguarding against exploitation and the proliferation of cyber-physical systems and increasingly ubiquitous linked devices in both consumer and business markets. IoT devices are transforming entire industries and have become a significant security vulnerability for businesses since they frequently lack visibility and protection. Without proactive security controls, businesses are forced to spend limitless amounts of money fixing vulnerabilities, which forces them to look for alternative solutions. With the help of Sternum's universal IoT platform, a new world where fleets of connected devices may be easily, seamlessly, and autonomously observed at the edge, is created. The patented technology is designed to detect the general signatures of several attack exploitations, including command injection and buffer overflow attacks, and to stop the intrusion attempts in real-time, defending the device's runtime integrity against both zero-day and one-day attacks. This method offers total defense against a variety of CWEs (Common Weakness Enumerations) and promotes a proactive IoT security paradigm, eliminating the need to spend money on reactive patching to catch up with hackers. "NXP's microcontrollers power devices that will work as the mission-critical backbone of entire industries and cities. We are thrilled to be collaborating with NXP to secure the future of digital transformation and ensure zero-trust from device to cloud. Our products offer companies a unique degree of protection against the most dangerous attack types, and significantly reduce the cost of security-related maintenance, and we are excited to see them used to promote innovation on a global scale," Natali Tshuva, CEO and Co-Founder of Sternum Sternum provides businesses with a comprehensive solution for all RTOS and Linux-operated devices, covering the distinct sector needs of IoT device-level protection and visibility in the medical, industrial 4.0, smart cities, energy, and beyond. Furthermore, Sternum's proprietary technology, based on dynamic code analysis, anomaly detection, and runtime integrity verification, supports a "shift-left" technique by giving developers the resources they need to spot security issues before they are deployed when they are less expensive to fix.

EUCAST Global & Clovity Form a Strategic Partnership to Deliver the First Ever 'IoT Private Network in a Box'

Clovity | July 12, 2022

San Francisco Bay Area based Clovity has partnered with Colorado based company EUCAST Global in a strategic move that will align the private network capabilities of EUCAST and their steadfast, reliable and low latency 5G/CBRS radio base stations with Clovity's highly capable IoT software platform. The end result is an 'IoT network in a box'. A fully deployable private network capability coupled with the software that can bring forward smart devices and aggregated data that is truly at the edge of a network. "This new strategic partnership will re-shape how we go to market with many of our industrial and smart city clients as a start. We are already seeing the synergies in providing a turn-key solution that meets the needs of clients wanting to manage their smart devices remotely by placing them onto a network that is both secure and highly scalable. Our IoT software, called CSensorNet, reads data from these devices and can display analytics right from the network using our artificial intelligence and edge component of our IoT application." Chief Strategy Officer, Chris Medina Medina further commented that, "Clients are focused on security of their network and the devices that provide critical information. This is not just on the infrastructure but also data that can be used to make real time decisions and even facilitate machine learning. More and more companies are moving to Private Networks and deploying them to capture the CBRS spectrum as a cost savings compared to big telco infrastructure and costly cellular usage fees." The global private 5G network market size was valued at USD 1.38 billion in 2021 and is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 47.5% from 2022 to 2030 and the IoT market is expected to grow by USD 421.28 billion at a CAGR of 32.95% as per the latest market report by Technavio and Grandview researchers.
