Synaptics Introduces Low-Power, Highly Accurate GNSS IC to Power IoT Devices

Synaptics | January 04, 2023 | Read time : 02:55 min

Synaptics
The SYN4778 is a small, low-power, and accurate global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) integrated circuit (IC) for the Internet of Things (IoT). Synaptics Incorporated announced it. The SYN4778 is made to provide accurate positioning and navigation for a wide range of IoT applications, such as smart cities, connected cars, asset tracking, and smart homes.

The chip uses 80% less power than similar devices and is 30% smaller, and it is also 50% more accurate. It is meant to improve the battery life and performance of location-based services in IoT devices like wearables, mobile accessories, asset tracking systems, drones, and transportation navigation.

“Low-power GNSS chips are key to opening up the market to a wide variety of IoT products where battery life is important. Many of these applications also have size constraints while still requiring the highest possible performance to accommodate advanced services. The key differentiation GNSS ICs can provide means discrete implementations for IoT products continue to form a significant portion of the total market for GNSS chips.”

Phil Solis, research director at IDC

The SYN4778 is made to be used in applications with the least amount of power, giving GNSS and location-based services a higher level of accuracy. The SYN4778 chip is a reliable positioning and navigation solution for IoT applications because it is more accurate and uses less power.

The SYN4778 uses an advanced 7-nm semiconductor process and on-chip power management to use less power. Its use of the L1 and L5 satellite bands cuts the time to the first fix by 35% and the power used for the first fix by 72%. It also has advanced multipath interference mitigation using L5 band signals from different satellite systems, LTE jamming and signal filtering, and support for multiple operating systems.

FutureDial Launches Breakthrough Solution for Efficient Mobile Device Refurbishing

FutureDial | January 30, 2023

FutureDial has released SMART Receive, a way for warehouses to process used mobile devices quickly and easily. The system moves tasks related to receiving to a single station where information about the device is recorded and processing is done. This cuts down on bottlenecks in the receiving and routing processes and makes the workflow more efficient. SMART Receive works with FutureDial's other automation solutions. It automates tasks that used to be done by hand and uses dynamic workflow guidance to save time and cut down on mistakes. By automating these processes, SMART Receive makes receiving and routing a more streamlined process. Angel Anderson, Product Solution Manager, FutureDial SMART Receive, said, "SMART Receive brings together all the separate receiving tasks into a single, more efficient station and takes away the guesswork, guiding the receiving staff in performing their tasks." She added, "The system helps consolidate the order-of-operation workflow in receiving and directs staff on which tasks to prioritize and when to perform them." She added further, "Formerly repetitive tasks are aggregated into more efficient sequences for staff to perform, which saves time, effort, and money." (Source: PR Newswire) The solution is seen as a game-changer for the industry because it makes it easier and more profitable to refurbish warehouses to handle more devices. With SMART Receive, warehouses can save time and money while making sure orders are correct and keeping up with growing customer needs. This makes it easier for businesses to manage the complexity of warehouse operations and meet customers' demands for faster delivery. About FutureDial FutureDial has been in business since 1999 and is a leading provider of processing solutions for the mobile device supply chain. Its easy-to-use, ADISA certified, automated SMART Processing Platform simplifies and automates processes, reducing operator touches and saving time and money for various companies such as device buy-back trade-in, third-party logistics (3PLs), wireless carriers, mobile device insurance, and mobile device manufacturers (OEMs).
