Firefox OS Is Sacrificed As Mozilla Shifts Focus To Internet Of Things

Mozilla has pulled the plug on the mobile Firefox OS, which spells an end for Firefox smartphones, with focus now on the connected homes platform.
Mozilla revealed at the company’s developer conference in Orlando that the Firefox OS will finally meet its demise. Mozilla will not develop the Firefox OS for smartphones anymore, and will not sell the now-defunct Firefox mobile OS operating system to carriers. According to Firefox, the company wants to focus on other platforms such as the connected home and Internet of Things platform.
According to Ari Jaaksi, Mozilla’s Senior VP of connected devices, the team which was working on the Firefox OS will shift its focus to the connected devices platform. It is interesting to note that Mozilla’s annual report cited the Firefox OS as one of the company’s major products.
