Utilizing the MediaTek® Genio 1200 processor, this ADLINK SMARC COM features high-performance AI and graphics-centric capabilities, ideal for various AIoT use cases at the edge. ADLINK’s MediaTek Genio 1200 SMARC Module harnesses an octa-core CPU (4x Cortex-A78 + 4x Cortex-A55 at 2.2GHz) for running compute-intensive workloads, a 5-core GPU for advanced 3D graphics, and an APU (AI Processor Unit) for on-device AI processing, such as deep learning, neural network (NN) acceleration, and computer vision. LoRa Alliance® Launches IPv6 Over LoRaWAN®; Opens Wide Range of New Markets for LoRaWAN

The LoRa Alliance®, the global association of companies backing the open LoRaWAN® standard for the internet of things (IoT) low-power wide-area networks (LPWANs), today announced that LoRaWAN now seamlessly supports Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) from end-to-end. By expanding the breadth of device-to-application solutions with IPv6, LoRaWAN’s addressable IoT market is also broadened to include internet-based standards required in smart electricity metering and new applications in smart buildings, industries, logistics, and homes. The new IPv6 adaptation layer facilitates and accelerates development of secure and interoperable applications over LoRaWAN and builds on the alliance’s commitment to ease of use. IP-based solutions, commonly found in enterprise and industrial solutions, among many others, can now be transmitted over LoRaWAN, and easily integrated with cloud infrastructures. The LoRa Alliance IPv6 over LoRaWAN Task Force then took the SCHC specification (RFC 90111) and integrated it into the body of the LoRaWAN standard. LoRa Alliance member company, Acklio, made significant contributions to enable IPv6 over LoRaWAN and was integral to the development of the SCHC technology for LoRaWAN. Security and Design are the biggest knots to untangle, according to the largest-ever IoT connectivity survey run by Kaleido Intelligence

Kaleido Intelligence, a leading connectivity market intelligence and consulting firm, has published the largest-ever survey of IoT connectivity. floLIVE, a leading IoT connectivity provider of advanced 5G network solutions and a full suite of global cellular connectivity services for IoT use cases, both privately and over the cloud, was one of the key industry experts that provided support for the survey commissioned by Kaleido Intelligence. Over 750 IoT professionals participated in the survey that explored the most important factors for IoT connectivity firms to provide, as well as identifying pain points for both those currently deploying IoT and those looking into it for the future. Topics covered in the survey included how IoT projects are managed, what the biggest concerns are, and what is required from IoT service providers. It was also crucial to examine the drivers for adoption of a range of promising technologies, such as eSIM and Private 5G Networks. Research highlights: Cellular IoT deployments continue to be issues of concern for businesses, with persistent concerns about security and service availability continuing to plague the space. End-to-end security ranked a #1 concern by both current and future IoT deployers. Respondents found it highly important to keep multinational solutions safe from permanent roaming restrictions. Almost all respondents expected connectivity providers to offer some form of security, with over half wanting advanced options, such as IP restrictions, traffic burst detection, unconfigured ports and more. Hardware design and support is seen as the biggest challenge by non-adopters of the technology. Vertical-specific solutions are increasingly expected.
