The Internet of Things

March 1, 2018

According to analysts, there are between 10 to 20 billion physical objects or “things” connected to network, embedded with sensors, software and network connectivity to collect and exchange data, which forms the foundation of “Internet of Things” (IoT). A study by Cisco estimates that there will be 50 billion Internet-connected devices by 2020. The IoT network comprises of smart devices, ma chines (thing s ) inter a c ting and communicating with other devices, machines, infrastructure and environments generating huge volumes of data, which gets processed to retrieve useful insights, based on which decisions can be taken to control and command the things. IoT is gaining momentum to revolutionize the existing business verticals - Industrial, Automotive, Healthcare, Banking, Energy, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Retail, Security & Surveillance, Smart Cities, Environment, and Logistics.
