5G for Industrial IoT

September 20, 2018

This document describes a Resource Allocation Protocol (RAP) that conducts distributed resource reservation for streams across a time-sensitive network in a manner comparable to the operation of Multiple Stream Reservation Protocol (MSRP). RAP is intended as an application to be built on top of the Link-local Registration Protocol (LRP), which is under development within the IEEE 802.1CS and provides enhanced support for large databases than the Multiple Registration Protocol (MRP). More importantly, RAP will add support for configuration of TSN features in the fully distributed configuration model, where MSRP currently supports only AVB features.
