How 5G Will Change the Way You Deploy IoT Devices
The fifth generation of wireless technology is here—almost. 5G has a lot of potential and is definitely getting a lot of press, with many discussions about when we could start to see 5G-compatible phones. Most of those discussions focus on the consumer implications of 5G, but buried in some articles is how businesses will be able to use 5G for operations. It’s easy for executives and IT departments to imagine doing away with desk phones, cabling, and wireless routers in buildings. With the right security, everyone in the company can use the 5G network just as easily. How that works is yet to be determined, but the idea of doing away with bunches of network equipment delights many people. Talked about in fewer articles is how 5G will affect the Internet of Things (IoT)—specifically, how will IoT devices, both for consumers and within businesses, be able to use 5G networks?
