DEUTSCHE TELEKOM LAUNCHES EU-WIDE IOT TARIFFS WITH HALF-PRICE OFFER
Deutsche Telekom has introduced European Union-wide tariffs for its internet of things (IoT) service.The offer comes from Telekom Deutschland, the group’s subsidiary in Germany, but is available across all 28 members of the EU, including the UK, whose government is planning to leave at the end of October.“Deutsche Telekom is the first company to also offer roaming on the NB-IoT [narrowband IoT] networks of its national subsidiaries. These are currently Austria, the Netherlands, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Greece,” said Norbert Riepl, a cloud and IoT specialist in the group.The group will sell pre-activated SIM cards for IoT via its online shop. “The pre-activated SIM cards are delivered within three days. They can be used immediately in sensors, trackers and other IoT devices,” said Riepl.Deutsche Telekom is launching the service by offering 12,000 SIM cards at half price. Riepl added: “They order the SIM cards they need in the respective rates and for the corresponding network. There is a choice of multi-format cards and fixed cards in the device.
