Hologram's eUICC SIM Offers Network Fallback for IoT Devices

Hologram | February 23, 2023

Hologram, the industry-leading cellular connectivity platform for the Internet of Things, has introduced the next-generation Hyper SIM with network fallback functionality. The global eUICC SIM integrates directly with leading carriers in the United States and Canada, enabling network fallback to maintain device connectivity intelligently. While millions of IoT devices utilize global roaming agreements for cost-effective global access, increasing international connectivity restrictions and specific IoT connectivity requirements, traditional SIMs with roaming profiles no longer suffice for IoT. Next-gen Hyper SIM provides direct access to carriers in the US and Canada, ensuring operator-guaranteed connectivity for global IoT deployments. With native profiles, Hyper SIM provides high-performance IoT connectivity for industrial robotics, video streaming, autonomous drones, and more. In addition to performance, IoT applications such as payment processing, security monitoring, and micromobility, among others, require continuous connectivity resistant to network failures. Therefore, the next-generation Hyper SIM incorporates network fallback, an intelligent profile management agent that switches eUICC profiles automatically when native connectivity is unavailable. With network fallback, Hyper SIMs can connect to high-performance native profiles as their primary connectivity source without compromising the advantages of multi-carrier and route redundancy provided by global roaming profiles. Ben Forgan, Co-Founder and CEO of Hologram, shared, "When we launched Hyper in 2020, we turned connectivity into software, offering the first eUICC IoT global SIM." He added, "We're bringing that innovation to the next level to address the needs of the sophisticated IoT applications we're seeing today. Whether streaming video or autonomous drones, the next generation of Hyper gives connected devices the low latency delivered from native performance with the reliability and flexibility of global roaming they now require." (Source – Cision PR Newswire) About Hologram Hologram empowers innovators worldwide to build the future. The company provides cellular connectivity, software, and support to connect and manage IoT devices anywhere in the world. With its Hyper IoT SIM cards, IoT devices enjoy superior performance backed by eUICC technology designed to last the lifetime of deployments. The company's streamlined tools allow teams to make data-driven decisions and manage operations easily. Its dashboard shows device performance, manages spend, and equips teams for the future, all in one place.

Energous at CES 2023 Shows off RF-based Charging Technology and Partner Products

Energous | January 10, 2023

Energous Corporation, a developer of RF-based charging for wireless power networks, announced that it will be demonstrating its technology and products at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), taking place in Las Vegas, NV. The technology demonstrated by Energous will include WattUp®, their RF-based, power-at-a-distance charging platform. Given how long the consumer electronics industry has anticipated Energous' technology, this represents a significant milestone for the company. At CES, Energous Corporation demonstrated IoT-enabled devices such as a multi-spectral light sensor, smart football, wall of Wiliot, CO2 sensor, Wiliot IoT pixel tag printer, sensor evaluation kit, harvesting evaluation kit, and electronic shelf labels (ESL). The company also showcased the WattUp Near Field (NF) solutions and the recently launched WattUp Mid Field (MF), designed to enable wire-free charging of mobile and consumer electronics up to 15 feet away. The demonstration at CES was an impressive display of the technology that Energous has been able to develop over the years. The company will have a booth presence on the show floor at the Venetian Expo Hall and will showcase various products such as a wirelessly powered multi-spectral light sensor for vertical farming, a "smart" football from Energous partner Catapult, wirelessly powered over-the-air by its WattUp technology, a CO2 sensor, and electronic shelf labels (ESLs), among others. The CEO of Energous said that the company has reached important milestones in 2022 and that IoT applications will make its technology more popular. About Energous Corporation Energous Corporation (NASDAQ: WATT) is the global leader in Wireless Power Networks. Eseye Introduces AnyNet SMARTconnect™ On-device Connectivity Software Solution

Eseye | January 25, 2023

On January 24, 2023, Eseye, a leader in cutting-edge cellular IoT connectivity solutions, announced the launch of its groundbreaking AnyNet SMARTconnect™ software solution for on-device connectivity. The new solution directly embeds intelligent, global IoT connectivity into any device, allowing businesses to bring products to market faster and concentrate on providing value to their consumers. Furthermore, AnyNet SMARTconnect™ improves resiliency by keeping devices linked and optimized now and in the future. This enables IoT initiatives to scale without the need to hire expensive, hard-to-find connectivity or firmware engineers. AnyNet SMARTconnectTM, which will be on display at the IoT Solutions World Congress in Barcelona beginning January 31, is already in use by some of Eseye's commercial customers. AnyNet SMARTconnect™, supplied as an independent plug-in software module, codifies Eseye's decades of connectivity expertise into a robust and flexible device software that customers and partners can easily integrate into their IoT or connected device. This ensures "right-first-time" delivery and enables device design flexibility to help future-proof the solution as it navigates present and future supply chain challenges. It facilitates greater deployments by allowing for a single SKU, including initial bootstrapping and provisioning. In addition, AnyNet SMARTconnect™ enables businesses to bypass software development and embed plug-and-play connectivity intelligence right into their products. This can fasten product launches by up to 9 months, significantly lowering expenses and allowing them to focus on the applications and data that provide value to their clients. AnyNet SMARTconnect™ utilizes Eseye's AnyNet Federation, a global mobile network alliance spanning 190 countries that provides access to over 700 global networks with more localization options than any other provider, as well as its award-winning Infinity IoT Connectivity Management Platform™. It includes a set of higher-layer communication protocol extensions such as CoAP, MQTT, and Lightweight Machine to Machine (LWM2M) that benefit from understanding and responding to network state. For example, before performing a Firmware Over the Air (FOTA) update, the LWM2M may wait for higher, more cost-effective bandwidth and increased signal strength.
