Identiv Expands Partnership with STMicroelectronics to Boost NFC Solutions

Identiv | February 15, 2023

Identiv, Inc., a leader in digital security and identification in the Internet of Things (IoT), has recently announced that it expanded its partnership with STMicroelectronics to offer new near-field communication (NFC) inlays for wine and spirits, healthcare, luxury goods, medical devices, pharmaceutical, apparel, consumer packaged goods, and smart packaging applications for any industry. NFC technology has evolved to a level where people rely on NFC-equipped smartphones and wearables to navigate the world daily. Identiv now provides specialist NFC and high frequency (HF) designs with ST's cost-effective ST25TN Type 2 NFC chips, bolstering Identiv's standing as a global leader in RFID/NFC technology. The ST25TN conforms with ISO/IEC14443 Type A and NFC Forum Type 2 tag specifications, works at a fast baud rate of 106kbits/s, and incorporates the TruST25 digital signature, which guarantees tag authenticity and protects brands from counterfeiting. All ST25TN chips are Type 2 Tags and adhere to the NFC Forum's NFC-A Technology specification. The information stored on NFC tags is sent to NFC smartphones or professional NFC/RFID HF readers that work with the NFC Data Exchange Format (NDEF). The ST25TN series provides tags with user memory ranging from 512 bits to 1.6 kilobytes and an automatic contextual NDEF messaging service. This Augmented NDEF technology enables tags to react with dynamically generated content following a simple "tap" from NFC-enabled mobile devices. Identiv's new bitse.io connected IoT platform enables customers to develop direct-to-consumer branded communications using its new ST25TN-enabled NFC solutions. Experiences can be designed to produce unique personalization and greater end-user engagement. About Identiv Identiv is a global leader in Internet of Things (IoT) authentication and security solutions founded in 2007 and based in Fremont, California. The company validates frictionless access and operations anywhere, protects intellectual property, safeguards identities from malicious attacks, and drives IoT innovation. An elite group of partners and forward-thinking clients in a variety of vertical markets around the world rely on the company. From airports to seaports, hospitals to schools, critical infrastructure to government agencies, it safeguards the people and locations that power lives. The company’s platform consists of RFID and NFC, as well as cybersecurity and the entire continuum of physical access, video, and audio security. It protects the physical world digitally.

A New IoT Software Solution from 1NCE Will Increase Accessibility and Improve Time-to-market

1NCE | January 09, 2023

1NCE, a global IoT (Internet of Things) connectivity and software company, has launched its 1NCE OS software at the Consumer Electronics Show. The software is designed to be easily integrated into IoT projects of any scale and aims to accelerate time-to-market for these projects by several months. The launch of 1NCE OS at CES has created a lot of buzz in the IoT industry, and the product is expected to revolutionize the way IoT projects are developed. The software includes features such as device authentication, an IoT integrator, a device inspector, a device locator, and an energy saver. These features combined will make it easier for developers to add robust security and scalability to their IoT projects. “1NCE flips the script for customers – we don’t monetize their data for a few extra dollars because our customers’ data is theirs and theirs alone. 1NCE’s move into software allows us to boost our customers’ ideas not just when they need connectivity, but from the outset of their projects and all the way through a device’s lifecycle. IoT connectivity and software for life for a single fee, and that’s it.” Ivo Rook, Chief Operating Officer at 1NCE (Source: Businesswire) The 1NCE OS software is available for free to 1NCE customers as part of the company's Lifetime Flat Service, which offers a single flat rate for IoT connectivity and software for life. The service aims to be transparent about using customer data to create tools rather than monetizing it to sell additional services. By using the 1NCE OS, customers are able to take advantage of a wide range of security and scalability options for their IoT projects without any extra costs or hidden fees. About 1NCE 1NCE is the only connectivity and software company that offers IoT at a global flat rate for life. Our mission is to provide true cross-border, future-proof IoT without uncertainty or hassle throughout the device's lifetime. In 150+ countries, 1NCE converts connectivity into ready-to-use electricity, allowing innovators to dramatically improve the environment, cities, healthcare, public safety, the supply chain, and more. The company, which was founded in 2017 by CEO Alexander P. Sator and Deutsche Telekom AG, is headquartered in Cologne, Germany, and employs over 250 people across 20 countries.

Synaptics Introduces Low-Power, Highly Accurate GNSS IC to Power IoT Devices

Synaptics | January 04, 2023

The SYN4778 is a small, low-power, and accurate global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) integrated circuit (IC) for the Internet of Things (IoT). Synaptics Incorporated announced it. The SYN4778 is made to provide accurate positioning and navigation for a wide range of IoT applications, such as smart cities, connected cars, asset tracking, and smart homes. The chip uses 80% less power than similar devices and is 30% smaller, and it is also 50% more accurate. It is meant to improve the battery life and performance of location-based services in IoT devices like wearables, mobile accessories, asset tracking systems, drones, and transportation navigation. “Low-power GNSS chips are key to opening up the market to a wide variety of IoT products where battery life is important. Many of these applications also have size constraints while still requiring the highest possible performance to accommodate advanced services. The key differentiation GNSS ICs can provide means discrete implementations for IoT products continue to form a significant portion of the total market for GNSS chips.” Phil Solis, research director at IDC The SYN4778 is made to be used in applications with the least amount of power, giving GNSS and location-based services a higher level of accuracy. The SYN4778 chip is a reliable positioning and navigation solution for IoT applications because it is more accurate and uses less power. The SYN4778 uses an advanced 7-nm semiconductor process and on-chip power management to use less power. Its use of the L1 and L5 satellite bands cuts the time to the first fix by 35% and the power used for the first fix by 72%. It also has advanced multipath interference mitigation using L5 band signals from different satellite systems, LTE jamming and signal filtering, and support for multiple operating systems.
