UnaBiz | March 14, 2023
On March 13, 2023, Senet, Inc., a market leader in cloud-based services and software platforms enabling worldwide connectivity and on-demand network build-outs for IoT, and UnaBiz, a service provider and integrator for Massive IoT, announced a partnership. The companies will offer complete access to Senet's LoRaWAN network services and develop future global 0G network access beyond North America for customers implementing hybrid solutions.
The partnership will initially concentrate on assisting international UnaBiz clients in entering the North American market through scaled LPWAN applications powered by Senet's Public LoRaWAN Network-as-a-Service (NAAS). In addition, the two companies will collaborate to enable roaming so that Senet's customers can easily use the UnaBiz global 0G Network, driven by Sigfox 0G technology that is owned and employed by more than 70 national Operators worldwide.
The strategic partnership between UnaBiz and Senet is based on UnaBiz's technology convergence movement, bolstered by acquiring Sigfox 0G technology a year ago. Both businesses are enthusiastic about growing their service portfolios and supporting clients who use hybrid solutions worldwide.
Co-CEO and Co-Founder of UnaBiz, Henri Bong, shared, "We want our customers to focus on the value that Massive IoT can bring instead of worrying about which technology to use, coverage issues, and the cost of deployment. Through our partnership with Senet, our customers can achieve economies of scale by roaming between public 0G network infrastructure, Senet's public LoRaWAN networks and Senet's private LoRaWAN network capabilities across North America." He added, "This move will also allow our ecosystem partners and solution makers to develop hybrid solutions that service a wider market and use cases, further bringing down the cost of Massive IoT. It is a win-win situation."

Universal Electronics | February 07, 2023
On February 6, 2023, Universal Electronics Inc., a leader in wireless universal control solutions for smart home devices, announced that the UEI Smart Thermostat Platform is compatible with Matter and Zigbee at the AHR (Air-conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration) Expo in Atlanta. In addition, the company is showcasing the enhanced capabilities of its next-gen connected thermostat platform, with three marketed variations: UEI TIDE Touch, UEI TIDE Dial, and UEI TIDE Bridge.
The UEI Comfort platform is designed for HVAC OEMs, home automation and hospitality solution providers. It supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, and Zigbee to enable local and cloud connectivity. Created with UEI’s QuickSet® Widget, it works with QuickSet® Cloud and UEI’s Virtual Agent for easy installation, management, and support of advanced climate control systems.
The support from the white-label my Nevo mobile app simplifies system installation and support and provides remote management and automation on mobile devices and computers. Later this quarter, Matter will enable the thermostat to discover and interact with third-party Matter sensors and devices and connect to non-Matter sensors. This allows complete integration of the thermostat with smart home systems.
The UEI TIDE Dial, the first platform variant, will launch in Q1 2023 and offers a full-color screen display and jog dial for easy navigation of advanced thermostat functions. The UEI TIDE Touch, with a full-size touchscreen color display, will launch later in 2023. Both products are supported by a local rule engine for easy automation and control. The UEI TIDE Bridge lets you remotely install the system interface and wirelessly control the thermostat from anywhere. This makes the system accessible and provides precise temperature control.

Taoglas | February 24, 2023
On February 23, 2023, Taoglas®, a reputable provider of antennas and Internet of Things (IoT) components that solve complex engineering challenges, introduced three new invisible antennas with cellular, Wi-Fi, and GNSS technology compatibility. The TFX series is a lightweight, paper-thin, transparent alternative to traditional opaque antennas. The peel-and-stick antennas are ideal for public infrastructure, mobility, transportation, medical devices, and emerging IoT applications.
Individually or in custom combinations, the TFX62.A, TFX257.A, and TFX125.A can improve cellular, Wi-Fi, and GNSS antenna installations, respectively. Pre-applied adhesive and an enclosed carrier with a FAKRA connector make deployment simple. A hybrid transparent conductive film with sub-mm thickness is used to offer the same reliability and performance as opaque antennas.
Its low-profile design, robust construction, and customizability make it ideal for many scenarios. Example use cases include on-screen placement for parking meters and EV chargers, placement on windows for smart buildings, and in-vehicle connectivity with covertly placed antennas.
Global Head of Engineering at Taoglas®, Baha Badran shares, “At Taoglas, we continue to explore new manufacturing technologies and design techniques that help customers solve complex problems.” He added, “Our patented flex PCB antennas pushed technology boundaries, and the use of transparent mediums is our next step in IoT and connectivity innovation.”
