IoT LTE, GSM, unlicensed networks and security

IoT LTE, GSM and unlicensed network connectivity all made advancements over the past couple of weeks with France-based Orange launching its LoRa IoT test concurrent with LTE and GSM trials; and publicly traded Silver Springs Networks launched an international wireless IPv6 network service for IoT.
The Wall Street Journal announced a wireless war erupted this week when Starfish was announced.  Dan Shey, an analyst at ABI Research, was quoted as saying, “It has caused the operators to wake up.”
Ericsson and single mode chipmaker Sequans were part of the Orange IoT LTE GSM announcement aiming to demonstrate extended in-building wireless coverage designed to increase device reachability sevenfold, while reducing device cost by 60% and extend battery life for up to 10 years.
