This Lockheed Martin spinoff wants to expand into the Internet of Things

Alexandria-based Savi Technology Inc. has raised $15 million to help the sensor analytics company expand into the commercial and industrial markets.
Savi originally made radio frequency identification (RFID) sensors to help track the movement of Defense Department goods and weapons overseas. In 2012, Bethesda-based Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) spun off the company.
Savi then began developing sensor analytics software to help companies analyze and predict the movement of their materials through their logistics chain using the information from the sensors.
The company still provides sensors to the DoD and is one year into a $102 million five-year contract. The privately-held Savi does not disclose revenue.
