Getting Your IoT Strategy Right: An Executive Perspective on Where to Win In IoT

With the growth of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) comes not only opportunities and benefits for our society, but also substantial safety and economic risks. In an effort to combat these risks, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued guidance underlining strategic principles for IoT device security.

Voice is fast becoming the preferred way of communication with our smart devices throughout our daily lives. This session will be showcasing how you can implement AI based, local voice solutions using the PSoC™ 6 and XENSIV™ hardware platform with the Picovoice software platform. We will be walking through a full flow where we will prototype a voice product using Picovoice Console and ModusToolbox™ on a PSoC™ 6 + XENSIV™ development platform to demonstrate local voice.

We unpacked how rapid digitalisation is impacting the grid, as well as the architecture, energy and intelligence needed to make it work in a more complex, connected environment. We explored how best to satisfy customer demands, integrate legacy infrastructure with modern technology and maximise the lessons learned from early adopters. E-mobility: The importance of developing the right kind of electric mobility infrastructure for both city and utility needs.

Although industrial control systems have switched from analog to digital many decades ago, the problem of having multiple proprietary protocols preventing these systems from properly integrating with each other still persists to this day. OPC UA was conceived with the purpose to address this problem, but its success was only partial, and it’s still not as pervasive and adopted as it should be. MQTT is changing that scenario quickly, with smart sensors, cameras, and now even PLCs natively implementing this old but revamped protocol and edge computing is one of the vectors behind this transformation.
