AT&T to bring NB-IoT to US and Mexico

AT&T has announced that it would be bringing its NarrowBand Internet of Things (NB-IoT) technology to its customers in the US and Mexico. According to the company, the technology would be complimenting to their LTE-M network which is already present in the two countries.Both NB-IoT and LTE-M are Low-Power Wide-Area (LPWA) technologies that play a crucial role in IoT deployment. AT&T said that in the US, the NB-IoT would be launched in early 2019; whereas in Mexico it would be launched by the end of 2019. NB-IoT technology, similar to LTE-M will be installed through software upgrades at cell sites across the US and Mexico. Both the tech will operate along AT&T’s 4G LTE network and within their mobile 5G network which is planned to launch in parts of Dallas, Atlanta and Waco, Texas, by the end of 2018.
