Bentley Systems Acquires Sensemetrics and Vista Data Vision, Two Mining and Infrastructure IoT Firms

Bentley Systems, Sensemetrics, Vista Data Vision | May 03, 2021

Bentley Systems, Inc has reported its acquisitions of Sensemetrics and Vista Data Vision, leading suppliers of software for the Internet of Things (IoT) applications utilized widely in infrastructure and mining. Sensemetrics and Vista Data Vision will expand the extent of the Bentley iTwin platform to add intrinsic IoT capacities for infrastructure computerized twins to incorporate continuous sensor data. Under the resulting 'infrastructure IoT' standardization, the full IoT biological system will finally be consistently open for IT/OT/ET integration, through infrastructure computerized twins, to propel resource performance and alleviate environmental dangers.

Geotechnical engineering firms, land assessors, and civil and structural engineering firms, and resource proprietor administrators in mining, transportation, and utilities apply sensemetrics and Vista Data Vision offerings for geological, geotechnical, structural, and environmental monitoring including in heavy civil construction, mines, tunnels, dams, and for water resources. sensemetrics and Vista Data Vision support interfaces to many diverse sensor gadgets and related data types, including mechanical all outstations, inclinometers, piezometers, strain gauges, crack meters, tiltmeters, extensometers, anemometers, and for vibration data, pressure cells, temperature, solar insolation, precipitation, water quality, and air quality.

The Statement said: "Sensemetrics and Vista Data Vision are especially integral to Seequent, a worldwide pioneer in 3D modeling software for geosciences, which Bentley as of late reported its consent to secure, subject to administrative endorsements in New Zealand and the United States. Augmenting Seequent's Leapfrog models with continuous monitoring of ongoing sensor data, instead of waiting for refreshes from an intermittent borehole or drill opening investigations, can propel 3D subsurface computerized twins to work as 4D 'living' advanced twins—enabling extraordinary enhancements in environmental safety and resilience."

Established in 2014 in San Diego, California, Sensemetrics has continually progressed its vision to democratize IoT, and to expand its advantages across infrastructure resources, through its local cloud availability and edge controls platform – and its effects spread, across gadgets merchants, of farsighted sensor-agnostic standards. The sensemetrics platform is utilized widely for ongoing safety and hazard monitoring in infrastructure, mining, and construction exercises including to gauge and imagine the civil structural development, for condition evaluation, and to help identify and forestall damage.

Together, Sensemetrics and Vista Data Vision will add around 40 partners to Bentley Systems. Their combined annualized incomes and productivity are not material to and are not expected to meaningfully affect, the BSY financial viewpoint for 2021.

Flowfinity Announces new IoT Sensor Integration Capabilities to Help Firms Achieve Situational Awareness

Flowfinity | August 04, 2022

Flowfinity, a leading platform for business process automation, today announced new capabilities to help utilities and enterprises with complex physical assets achieve situational awareness to avoid unexpected downtime or major service disruptions via new Internet of Things (IoT) sensor integrations. Tech-savvy operators across a variety of industries, including major utilities, are recognizing that situational awareness is the key to understanding the context of operational events as they occur to ensure successful sustained service delivery. Now, Flowfinity has invested in an array of necessary technologies that will help bring about digital transformation to the broader utilities sector so operators can take full advantage of situational awareness IoT capabilities to drive business intelligence. You can leverage the Flowfinity platform to configure and install IoT devices that will gather all the operational information you need to make informed decisions. These devices can function on a continuous basis, generally compatible with Modbus protocols and GIS location data, to go well beyond what humans could perceive. Sensors can pick up temperature, power consumption, water flow, liquid levels, vibration, and other relevant metrics, while GIS technologies track movement across the environment. All this data feeds into a central database for humans to view or workflow automations to react. Since a few high-profile utility and service provider outages have recently affected ratepayers in North America Flowfinity believes the announcement of these new technological advances is well timed. "With all the attention on service continuity we see right now many software vendors are promising situational awareness, but many simply collect and transmit data," says Alex Puttonen, Marketing Manager at Flowfinity. "On the other hand, Flowfinity is a no-code platform that can be configured to integrate with your core systems to trigger corrective action through workflow automations. This ensures that events that meet designated criteria will immediately trigger a specific automated preventative response." By combining the simplicity of no-code application development with IoT driven workflow automation and interactive data visualization dashboards Flowfinity has put the ability to achieve meaningful situational awareness within the grasp of most utilities large or small. About Flowfinity Flowfinity is a no-code platform used to create, automate, and integrate custom business process applications. For over 20 years, Flowfinity has empowered business leaders and IT professionals to build flexible, scalable data collection apps and automate workflows without committing the extensive resources required to write and maintain custom code. Our intuitive platform combines a web-based app editor, SQL database, process automation robots, advanced data collection including IoT compatibility, edge computing, interactive reporting dashboards, and reliable system integrations.

IOTech announces a major new release of Edge XRT, its software platform for time-critical OT systems

IOTech Systems | June 24, 2022

IOTech, the edge software company, has announced the general availability of Edge XRT v2.0. This is a major release of its open software platform designed for time-critical and embedded OT applications at the industrial IoT edge. Edge XRT 2.0 greatly simplifies the development of OT applications and enables faster time-to-market for new edge systems. It is hardware agnostic, independent of the silicon provider (Intel or ARM) and operating system. Users have complete deployment flexibility. They can deploy it as a native application, containerized and/or into a virtualized environment. With its small memory footprint and efficient use of computing resources, Edge XRT 2.0 is also suitable for microcontroller-based applications where CPU and memory resources are limited. This makes it ideal for use cases such as connected commercial or consumer electronic devices (e.g., refrigeration unit), medical device applications or automotive engine management systems. The product's open APIs make third-party application integration very easy. Major industrial OEMs and ISVs are leveraging the product's multi-vendor OT connectivity, cloud interoperability and high-performance, real-time edge processing capabilities to create a new generation of protocol-agnostic edge solutions. "As a configurable, embeddable, high-performance OT platform, Edge XRT 2.0 is unique, It provides a rich set of OT and IoT capabilities that our customers can easily use to create their own edge solutions. In most cases, this is through simple configuration without the need for lots of custom code." Andrew Foster, Product Director at IOTech The new release adds a number of important features including: OT connectivity: In addition the existing pluggable OT connectivity for Modbus, EtherNet/IP and EtherCAT, BACnet and OPC UA protocols, the platform now supports PROFINET, S7, GPS and BLE. For protocols that support device discovery such as OPC UA, BACnet and EtherNet/IP, devices can be discovered and then onboarded easily without any manual configuration. A new MQTT API allows Edge XRT clients to easily manage the lifecycle of connected device/sensors, support read/write OT data access, control device discovery and resource scheduling. When deployed on an Azure Sphere device, an Edge XRT application can now be dynamically configured and reconfigured via a Device Twin running on Azure IoT Hub. IOTech has made scalability and performance improvements to address customer demand for concurrent access to an increasing number of OT devices and their data. Edge XRT is designed for high-performance edge computing use cases, such as industrial control and real-time signal processing applications across a variety of vertical markets. These include factory automation, renewable energy, building management, retail and hospitality. It also enables integration between the real-time edge applications and higher-level enterprise IT, SCADA and cloud applications. About IOTech IOTech builds and deploys vendor neutral software platforms and tools to support the rapid development, deployment and management of applications at the IoT Edge helping drive IoT innovation, global market adoption, velocity and scale.
