Intel’s Italian safety acquisition targets industrial IoT

Intel expects the acquisition to support its plans to develop components and systems in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), robotics, and autonomous machines for market segments like automotive and industrial where functional safety and high performance are key.
Intel has identified safety systems such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) is one of the fastest-growing segments in automotive electronics.
"As IT systems increasingly merge with operational systems in buildings, factories, vehicles (and more), functional safety is becoming important for a wide range of internet of things market opportunities. By Intel’s own estimates, 30% of the IoT market segment will require functional safety by 2020," said Caviasca.
