Iridium's Cloud-native Networked Data Service for Satellite Internet of Things Connections

Iridium
Cloud-native networked data services offer features such as scalability, flexibility, cost efficiency, high availability, and security and are designed to be used in cloud computing environments. With breakthrough innovations such as Iridium Messaging Transport (IMT), which enables the transmission of messages between devices or systems using the Iridium satellite network, organizations can get global coverage, low latency, high reliability, and robust security.

Iridium Communications has introduced a two-way cloud-native networked data service called Iridium Messaging Transport (IMT), which is designed to make it easier to add satellite connections to Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. The service is available to use over the Iridium Certus broadband service and provides an IP data transport service for small-to-moderate-sized messages, supporting satellite IoT applications.

The Iridium satellite network is made up of 66 low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellites that can reach almost everywhere on Earth, even the oceans and the poles.

IMT is integrated with Iridium CloudConnect and Amazon Web Services and can reduce development costs and speed up time to market for new Iridium-connected IoT devices. The service is currently available for the Iridium Certus 100 service, with introductions for Iridium Certus 200, 350, and 700 planned for Q1 2023.

Overall, Iridium's cloud-native networked data service for satellite IoT connections is a safe and reliable way for businesses to connect their IoT devices to the Internet in a wide range of places and situations.
