Korea leads in per-capita IoT device penetration

The per-capita penetration of devices associated with the Internet of Things is highest in South Korea, at 37.9 per 100 inhabitants, according to a study on the industrial internet by the World Economic Forum. It's followed by Denmark, Switzerland, the US, the Netherlands and Germany.
According to the report, it's still early days for the IoT, similar to the internet in the 1990s. Nearly nine in ten respondents in the study said that they hadn't yet realised the full impact of the IoT. Nevertheless, the 'industrial internet' is growing quickly: 23.6 billion sensors for handling data over IoT networks were shipped in 2014, compared to just 4.2 billion in 2012.
