Optus and Akamai Collaborate to Improve Enterprise IoT Security

Optus collaborated with Akamai Technologies to provide a self-service IoT platform that provides enterprises with secure internet and VPN systems to ease application and device management.

According to the operator, IoTFlex is based on Akamai’s Intelligent Edge platform and includes private network and IoT deployment to reduce time to market operating costs and increasing efficiency.

Deon Liebenberg, VP of product innovation at Optus Enterprise, said that seamless connectivity is essential for organizations deploying IoT projects and added: “with the proliferation of IoT and 5G devices available, security is paramount for enterprises.”

According to Liebenberg, the platform provides enterprises with visibility and control when managing their IoT devices, applications, and data and ensuring their network security by minimizing exposure to cyberattacks on the public internet.

The platform employs the Akamai Security and Personalisation Services Secure IoT suite and real-time intelligence to make IoT deployments safe and secure.

IoTFlex, according to Vijay Kolli, Akamai’s regional VP for enterprise Asia Pacific, reinforces the companies’ “joint commitment to providing world-class protection for Australian businesses as cyber threats continue to evolve.”
