Atmel has over 40,000 customers of its Microcontroller units - companies embedding MCUs to make devices powering the Internet of Things. For example, Arduino devices use Atmel MCUs. The Arduino WIFI shield includes a new Atmel MCU processor built from the ground up for WIFI running on batteries.
