Parking Management and the Internet of Things

Inefficient parking in large cities is a big problem—studies have shown that drivers looking for open parking can account for as much as 30% of traffic congestion in a city, which translates into high gas costs and greenhouse gas emissions levels. To address the problem, we’ve built a simple IoT parking management system designed to make parking in large metropolitan areas more efficient. It uses a sensor to detect when parking spaces are available, and then updates an iOS app so that open spaces are easy to find. It also alerts traffic agents when a car has overstayed its allotted time in a space.
