San Diego State University - Helping University Minds Harness IoT

Through the Wind River University Program, Wind River sponsored a senior project at the San Diego State University’s School of Engineering. The team of engineering students harnessed the Internet of Things and created a stethoscope that takes data from a patient, uploads it to Wind River Helix Device Cloud to display and store vital data to a website for the physician to use. This moves medical care from bedside to patient side, making it easier and more convenient for both the patient and the physician. The implications of this application are far reaching. In as much as it is an functional enabler, and even disrupter, technology highlights the shortcomings of industries those caught in the mindset of the old world pattern of design, build, and sell. Collaborating and standardizing on these new disruptive technologies, like those of the Wind River Helix Cloud Suite, is creating excitement and reinvigorating those closest to innovation.
