The Future of IoT: Why We Need the Open Interconnect Consortium

Depending on which market projection you read, the Internet of Things may consist of anywhere between 50-100 billion devices in the next 5-10 years. Today, there are many incompatible standards that make it difficult for device manufacturers, developers, and end users to realize the vision of a fully-connected future. The Open Interconnect Consortium (OIC) aims to solve this problem by creating a new standard for connecting devices with an open source reference platform. In this presentation, we will introduce the OIC, discuss the organization's mission, the companies involved, and share both current progress and a roadmap for the future.
