Audio as the new UX: Why Bluetooth Audio Matters in the IoT

In a growing number of IoT applications, Bluetooth wireless connectivity is the basis for a variety of audio-driven capabilities, including voice recognition, two-way voice communication, and music streaming. This paper explains how Bluetooth audio can differentiate IoT devices, and summarizes the design considerations for today’s Bluetooth-enabled audio features. When Bluetooth wireless connectivity first arrived on the scene, more than 20 years ago, it quickly gained a reputation for being a poor choice for audio early versions of the technology struggled to deliver high-quality music and voice reproduction. Never mind the fact that Bluetooth became a household name due to its use in audio applications such as handsfree headsets and portable speakers.
