ENTERPRISE IOT SECURITY CHALLENGES FACING INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION

March 1, 2016

Hi risk Control systems technology should not be exposed to Public Internet level threats. Low risk control related systems (for e.g. a Historian, or SCADA system)  need to be on the same platform as proven web technology before it can be public Internet  facing. The applications themselves may need to be upgraded / rebuilt from the ground up as verifiable code and
implementing best practices such as strong assemblies in .NET code . Trials and Guidelines for implementing The U.S. SKPP (Secure kernel protection profile) or EURO-MILS equivalent specification on commercial software development platforms are needed. Ensure that any COTS (commercial off the shelf software) application has been certified as checked for CWE compliance (Common weakness enumeration). Ensure that only approved open source components are installed as part of the COTS software.

The Industrial Internet of Things Networking Framework

whitePaper | August 3, 2022

The Internet of Things (IoT) fuses the digital realm with the real-world of objects and places and enables digital twins of them. These technologies drive innovation in application areas such as manufacturing, utilities, transportation, logistics and smart cities. The adoption of IoT technologies in industrial settings, known as Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), enables gathering and analysis of data across machines, physical assets and processes to improve the flexibility and efficiency of systems at reduced cost. IIoT will increase the productivity, shift economies, innovate business models and foster industrial growth: a digital transformation (DX).

The Business Value of Dell Technologies APEX Multicloud and As-a-Service Solutions

whitePaper | August 11, 2023

IDC’s research demonstrates that enterprise organizations are prioritizing digital infrastructure (DX) resiliency as a foundational element of their IT strategy. Organizations are looking for richer levels of visibility, cross-platform control, advanced data management, and protection that spans the entire ecosystem, including public or private cloud, on premises, colocation facility, and edge. DX initiatives rely on data-driven insights to deliver competitive differentiation, increased customer engagement, streamlined business operations, increased staff productivity, and growth in revenue and profitability. IT infrastructure is one of the crucial pillars of DX. In fact, DX cannot succeed without IT transformation, aligned with business strategy to meet or exceed service-level objectives for data-driven insights. Because of this realization, organizations are now focused on managing outcomes instead of IT infrastructure and looking to vendors and partners to help reach this goal.
