Industrial Internet of Things: Unleashing the Potential of Connected Products and Services

During the past 15 years, the Internet revolution has redefined businessto-consumer (B2C) industries such as media, retail and financial services. In the next 10 years, the Internet of Things revolution will dramatically alter manufacturing, energy, agriculture, transportation and other industrial sectors of the economy which, together, account for nearly two-thirds of the global gross domestic product (GDP). It will also fundamentally transform how people will work through new interactions between humans and machines. Dubbed the Industrial Internet (of Things), this latest wave of technological change will bring unprecedented opportunities, along with new risks, to business and society. It will combine the global reach of the Internet with a new ability to directly control the physical world, including the machines, factories and infrastructure that define the modern landscape. However, like the Internet was in the late 1990s, the Industrial Internet is currently in its early stages.

EyeSpy - Iranian Spyware Delivered in VPN Installers

whitePaper | August 16, 2022

During routine analysis of detection performance, we noticed a batch of processes that respected the same pattern in the process names. These names begin with sys, win or lib followed by a word that describes the functionality, such as bus, crt, temp, cache, init, and end in 32.exe. We later noticed that the .bat files and the downloaded payloads respect the same naming convention. Further investigation revealed the components are part of a monitoring application called SecondEye, developed in Iran and distributed legitimately via the developer’s website. We also found that some spyware components were already described in an article published by Blackpoint [1]. In the article, researchers drew attention to the dangers of legally distributed monitoring software with malicious behavior

Empowering DSOs to secure the Smart Grid

whitePaper | February 6, 2020

As the world’s growing need for energy meets the power of the Internet of Things, the traditional energy marketplace is rapidly transforming. Millions of meters and energy assets are connected and digitized each year, providing enormous benefits to the entire ecosystem: real time tracking of energy production and consumption data, optimized load balancing systems, streamlined operations and billing systems to name a few. As connectivity expands and the landscape is digitalizing, new distributed energy resources (DERs) and stakeholders are able to integrate into and expand the grid. DERs offer non-carbon resources that improve the energy sector’s overall carbon footprint, a key benefit for everyone.

Accelerating the Impact of Industrial IoT in Small and Medium‑Sized Enterprises

whitePaper | February 12, 2020

Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the manufacturing sector are being left behind in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This worrying trend is exacerbating economic inequality, stifling opportunities for social mobility and dragging down global industrial productivity. To benefit from the technological advancements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, SMEs will need to overcome a range of challenges including a dearth of skilled employees, lack of access to capital and unclear returns on investment, a need to revamp their firm’s infrastructure and processes, a need to update information technology and operational technology, and navigate a nascent technology landscape that is currently poised to serve larger companies.
